The Life of Ivory "Pete" Paul Domingue

Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 10, 2014 at a 10:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial in La Chapelle de Martin & Castille in Lafayette for Ivory "Pete" Domingue, age 91, who died on Wednesday, November 5, 2014 at Maison de Lafayette Nursing Home in Lafayette.

Entombment will be in Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery Mausoleum.

Reverend Chester Arceneaux, Rector to The Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist will be the Celebrant of the Funeral Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Lectors will be, Weellen Lemoine, Julie Carillo and Sophie Lopez. Giftbearers will be his six great-grandchildren. Musical selections will be, "Here I Am, Lord," "Psalm 25," "Isaiah 49," "J''irai la voir un jour," and "Battle Hymn of the Republic."

Survivors include one son, Larry Domingue; two daughters, Marlyn Broussard and her husband Grady and Kathleen Lopez; four grandchildren, Julie Carrillo and her husband, Luis, Leah Schmalz and her husband, Erik, Denise Gordy and Andrew Lopez and his wife, Sarah; six great-grandchildren, Daniel Gordy, Maria Carrillo, Madison Gordy, Martin Carrillo, Sophie Lopez and Olivia Lopez; a sister-in-law, Laura Mae Domingue; and a long-time special friend, Weellen Lemoine.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Bertha Broussard Domingue; his parents, Camille Domingue and the former Lea Guillot; six brothers and six sisters.

Mr. Domingue was born on December 4, 1922 in Scott, Louisiana and was a resident of Lafayette, Louisiana. He proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army. During World War II, he served primarily in the European Theater and spent a short time in the Phillipine Islands. He was a Past Commander of both the American Legion Post 69 and of the Disabled American Veterans - Chapter 2.
With the help of the GI Bill, he earned a degree in Accounting from then SLI in 1949 and started his own Accounting Service. After a successful career in accounting, he used is professional skills in various other businesses. Upon retiring, he generously volunteered his time. He worked at the Green House and at the Rose House helping senior citizens prepare their income tax returns. He also volunteered at the VA Clinic. He was a member of St. Genevieve Catholic Church in Lafayette. Pete was an avid fisherman for whom the success a fishing trip was independent of the size of the fish he caught.

Pallbearers will be Grady Broussard, Edwin Lopez, Andy Lopez, Luis Carrillo, Erik Schmalz and Robert Gordy. Honorary pallbearers will be Daniel Gordy, Martin Carillo, Henry "Buddy" Amy and Susan Gay Domingue.

The family requests that visitation be observed in Martin & Castille''s DOWNTOWN location on Sunday from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Monday from 8:00 AM until time of service.

A Rosary will be prayed Sunday at 3:30 PM in Martin & Castille Funeral Home.

The Domingue family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Bradley Chastant II, Lou Williams, Mike Schexnayder, Billy Crowley, Armani Broussard, Judy Lively, Shante Broussard with AllCare, and the staff of Emeritus Assisted Living, Nursing Specialties Home Health, and Lafayette General Medical Center.
