The Life of Patricia Rose Robertson

Patricia L. “Pattye” Robertson, born Feb. 11, 1927 in Pauls Valley, OK, died in Lafayette at her home Saturday, October 25, 2014, after a brief illness.
She was a loving mother and wife, teacher, musician and homemaker who loved good food, especially steak. She also loved jewelry and was a voracious reader and crossword puzzle solver. There was no word which she could not spell or describe a definition.
Pattye was a fixture in the Music Ministry at Asbury United Methodist Church for a number of years, serving as Director of Music in the late 1960s. Her family moved to Gretna, La, and upon their return to Lafayette, Pattye served as Children’s Choir director for a number of years until her retirement in 1999. She sang in the Asbury Choir as a soprano and also served as a soloist for many years.
Pattye was a teacher for 35 years and graduated with a Masters in Education from the University of Louisiana Lafayette. She was a devoted Ragin’ Cajun. She taught both elementary school and was a middle school assistant principal at Broussard Middle School. She retired when the students were taller than she was!
Pattye was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Donald M. Robertson. She is survived by a son, Terry Robertson and a daughter, Kelley Robertson Stewart. Pattye was the grandmother of six grandchildren, who called her “Sam”: Todd Robertson, Mark and Nicole Robertson, Joshua and Courtney Graham, Cody and Tami Robertson, Ashley Robertson Roth and her husband Rob, and Cassie Robertson. She was proud to have five great grandchildren. Pattye was also an "adopted" mother to Vicki Smith and Lee and Jan Cooke and family.
Pattye’s memorial service will be at Asbury United Methodist Church this Saturday, November 1 at 10:00 a.m. Rev. Susan Ferguson will officiate the service. Visitation will be at Asbury, 101 Live Oak Blvd in Lafayette from 9:00 a.m. Saturday until the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made to the Music Fund at Asbury United Methodist Church, 101 Live Oak Blvd., Lafayette, LA 70503.
Delhomme Funeral Home, 1011 Bertrand Drive, Lafayette, LA is in charge of funeral arrangements.
