The Life of Floyd Pierre Richard

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 28, 2014 at a 10:30 AM Mass of Christian Burial in La Chapelle de Martin & Castille for Floyd "Pretty Boy Floyd" Pierre Richard, 89, who died on Thursday, October 23, 2014 at Lafayette General Medical Center.

Interment will be in Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery.

Reverend Gary Schexnayder, Pastor of St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church, will be the Celebrant of the funeral Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Lectors will be Angela D’Aquin and Gwen Venable-LeBlanc. Giftbearers will be Gil, Lynn and Jason Futch.

Survivors include his beloved wife of 62 years, Beulah Pitre Richard of Lafayette; three children, Lynn R. Futch and her husband, Gil of Lafayette, Gwendolyn Venable-LeBlanc and her husband, Bill of Lafayette and Angela Richard D''Aquin and her husband, Steve of Lafayette; his grandchildren, Erica (Tommy), Tommy (Laura), Jason, Justin, Josh (Shanie), Gerrit, Ryan (Heidi), and Chad (Emmie); his step-grandson, Brooks (Amber); his great grandchildren, Trent, Sean, Jessica, Chloe, Halie, Bryson, Charlie Kate, Sawyer, Thomas, Logan, Hayes, Hannah, Logan, Hanna, Arianna and Tripp and his four legged companion, Hercules.

He was preceded in death by two sons, Ronald James Richard and Thomas Floyd Richard; and his parents, Julian and Alida Melancon Richard.

Pretty Boy Floyd loved the Ragin Cajuns and the Saints, He was a very devoted Sports Fan. He was a Passe Patout Star with Happy Fats. He loved to play and sing country and western music and gave up his time at local nursing homes. Floyd was a very funny person and loved to play pranks on everyone, his specialty saying at weddings was “You’ll Be Sorry”. He loved his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren but most of all his loving wife of 62 years, Bea.

Pretty Boy Floyd was a veteran of the U.S. Navy where he served in 1942 at the battle of Guadalcanal in the Pacific Theater of World War II.

A Rosary will be recited on Monday, October 27, 2014 at 7:00 PM by Deacon Nelson Schexnayder at Martin & Castille''s DOWNTOWN Location.

The family requests that visitation be observed on Monday from 2:00 PM to 9:00 PM and will continue on Tuesday from 8:00 AM until time of services.

Pallbearers will be Jason, Joshua, Gerrit, Ryan, Chad, Tommy, Justin and Erica.
