The Life of Ozena Daigle

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 24, 2014 at a 1:00 PM Mass of Christian Burial in Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Broussard for Ozena Simon Daigle, 85, who died on Sunday, September 21, 2014 at Pelican Pointe Nursing Home in Maurice surrounded by her family.

Interment will be in Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery.

Reverend William "Bill" Ruskoski, Associate Pastor of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, will be the Celebrant of the funeral Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Lectors will be, Tara LeBlanc and DaShawn Aucoin. Giftbearers will be her granddaughters, Christy Morgan, Janie Daigle and Kelli Daigle. Jodi Bollich, organist and soloist, will sing for the services, "On Eagle''s Wings," "Hail Mary, Gentle Woman," "Alleluia" and "I Can Only Imagine."

She leaves to cherish her memory two daughters, Elaine Daigle of Broussard, LA, and Carolyn Benoit and her husband, Sonny of Lafayette, LA; one son, Scottie Daigle and his wife, Debbie of Delcambre, LA; five grandchildren, Richard Aucoin, Jr. and his wife, DaShawn, Christy Morgan and her husband, Pappy, Ryan Comeaux and his wife, Holly, Janie Daigle and Kelli Daigle; four great grandchildren, Alyssa and Braeden Morgan and Collin and Cole Comeaux; one sister, Mary Simon of Carencro, LA; and two brothers, John Simon and Enoudey Simon both of Lafayette, LA.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Daigle; her parents, Enoudey and Essina Baudoin Simon; two sisters, Etta Whittington and Alma Hebert; one niece, Mavis Hebert; and one grandchild, Travis Aucoin.

Ozena Simon Daigle was born in Youngsville, Louisiana, was a native of Carencro and lived in Lafayette for the last two years. She worked for many years as a presser for Golden Cleaners in Lafayette. Mrs. Daigle was a member of the St. Peter Roman Catholic Church Community in Carencro, and was also involved with the Lafayette Council on Aging. She was very active in her community and was a member of the Foster Grandparent Program for over 15 years. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Pallbearers will be Richard Aucoin, Jr., Ryan Comeaux, Pappy Morgan, John Simon, Jimmy Fritz and Derrick Fritz.

A Rosary will be recited by Brady LeBlanc on Tuesday, September 23, 2014 at 7:00 PM in Martin & Castille''s DOWNTOWN Location.

The family requests that visitation be observed on Tuesday from 2:00 PM to 9:00 PM and will continue on Wednesday from 8:00 AM until time of services.

Memorial contributions may be made in Mrs. Daigle''s name to Heart of Hospice, 201 W. Vermilion St. Lafayette, LA. 70501.

The family wishes to give special thanks to the nurses and staff of Pelican Pointe Nursing Home as well as Garden View Assisted Living for their kindness, compassion and gentle care given to Mrs. Daigle during her time of need.
