Mary was a lifelong resident of the Acadiana area. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Lafayette and was very active in her church parish, St. Edmond church in Lafayette. She volunteered at Hamilton Medical Center (now Regional Medical Center of Acadiana). She enjoyed playing pokeno and making trips to the casino with her friends. She was the best cook, spaghetti being one of her many wonderful dishes, along with her Christmas chocolate candies. Mary loved cooking for all of the children at S.J. Montgomery and never let one go unfed. She cherished her time spent with her nieces and nephews. She was selfless and always had time for anyone, no matter what was going on in her life. She never complained and always brought out the positive side to things. She enjoyed life to the fullest and made every moment count. Mary will be dearly missed by her family, friends and all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by two sisters, Theresa Poirier and Bertha Gerard; and by many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Anthony "Tony" Alphonse; parents, Leopold and Emelie Poche Poirier; one nephew, Marc Poirier; two brothers, Carroll "Pop" Wilson Poirier and Claude Poirier.
