The Life of Clifton Claude Henderson Sr.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 9, 2014 at a 10:30 AM Mass of Christian Burial in St. Anne Catholic Church in Youngsville for Clifton Claude "C.C." Henderson, Sr., age 95, who died on Friday, September 5, 2014 at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center.

Interment will be in the Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery.

Reverend F. Hampton Davis, Pastor of Our Lady, Queen of Peace Catholic Church, will be the Celebrant of the Funeral Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Lectors will be Paula Henderson and Mary Richard. Giftbearers will be his grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Ann Courquet Henderson; his children, Clifton C. Henderson, Jr. and his wife Paula, Richard Henderson and his wife, Charlotte, June Henderson Burkheiser; Robert Henderson and his wife, Dena and Bryan Henderson and his wife, Lisa; ten grandchildren and eighteen great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John Alonzo and Sarah Williams Henderson; one son in-law, Pat Burkheiser; three sisters, Lucille Gordon, Dell Knight and Hazel Stokes; and a brother Aubrey Henderson.

A native of Forest Hill, Louisiana and a resident of Lafayette for most of his life, Mr. Henderson was an arborist and the owner-operator of Henderson Tree Service. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and friend to all who knew him. He proudly served his country as a member of the United States Navy during World War II.

Mr. Henderson had a passion of fishing and hunting, music and dancing, tending his garden and splitting wood. His grandchildren and great grandchilden were the love of his life and time spent with them was always interesting.

Pallbearers will be Clifton Henderson, Jr., Richard Henderson, Robert Henderson, Bryan Henderson, Jason Henderson, Chris Burkheiser, Ryan Henderson and Mark Richard.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Glen Stokes, Richard Carlisle, Jimmy Bourgeois and Charlie Bourgeois.

The family requests that visitation be observed in Martin & Castille''s SOUTHSIDE location on Monday from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM and on Tuesday from 8:30 AM until time of service.

A Rosary will be prayed Monday at 7:00 PM in Martin & Castille Funeral Home.
