The Life of Jessie Abadie
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, June 24, 2014, at a 10:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial in St. Pius X Catholic Church in Lafayette, for Jessie delaHoussaye Abadie, 67, who passed away on Wednesday, June 18, 2014 at her home in Lafayette.
Interment will be held in Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery.
Reverend Steve LeBlanc, Pastor of St. Pius X Catholic Church in Lafayette, will be Celebrant of the Funeral Mass and will conduct the funeral services.
Jessie was a native of Patoutville and a resident of Lafayette for most of her life. She taught in Morgan City and New Iberia in the Vocational College System for many years. Jessie enjoyed traveling and spending time at her camp with family and friends. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her children, Stephanie Angelle Maxwell and her husband Douglas, Stacy Marie Ledet and her husband Jude and Lieutenant Colonel Andre'' Bernard Abadie and his wife Linda; grandchildren, Caitlin Marie Ledet, Myles Joseph Ledet, Nicholas Bernard Abadie and Christopher Auguste Abadie; and three siblings, Becky delaHoussaye, Rae Brodnax and Rona delaHoussaye.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Donald Bernard Abadie; parents, Auguste J. delaHoussaye, Jr. and Jessie Lee delaHoussaye; and one brother, Auguste J. delaHoussaye, III .
The family requests that visiting hours be observed in Delhomme Funeral Home on Bertrand on Monday, June 23, 2014 from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM. A Rosary will be recited at 7:30 PM on Monday evening in the funeral home. Visiting hours will continue on Tuesday from 8:00 AM until the time of service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Jessie Abadie''s name to the New Church Building Fund at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 201 East Bayou Parkway, Lafayette, LA 70508.
Delhomme Funeral Home, 1011 Bertrand Drive, Lafayette, LA is in charge of funeral arrangements.
