The Life of Mr. Ozare Thomas Morvant

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:00 pm on Saturday, May 31, 2014 at St. Patrick Catholic Church for Ozare T. "Blackie" Morvant, 88, who passed away on Tuesday, May 27, 2014 at 11:23 am at his residence.

Reverend M. Keith LaBove, Pastor of St. Patrick Catholic Church, will be Celebrant of the Mass and will conduct the funeral services.

Burial will take place in Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery.

"Blackie" a resident of Lafayette, LA was the son of the late Avery Morvant and the former Yvonne Leger.

He served his country proudly having served in the United States Navy during World War II, "Blackie" was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather brother and friend who will be missed by all. "Blackie" was a Crane Operator for Woodson Construction Co. for many years of service, after retiring he enjoyed camping cooking, and eating boiled crawfish with his family.

He is survived by his loving wife of forty two years, Shirley Diddon Morvant; his daughter, Margaret L. Fusilier and husband Billy; his son, Lawrence A. Morvant; his special family friend Kathleen Gibson and husband Lonnie; his ten grandchildren, Monica Fontenot and husband Anthony, Crystal Dupuy, Karen Swigart, Kenneth Morvant, Nora Morvant, Charolynn Morvant and Gwen Morvant; his great grandchildren, Alyssa Adalie, Gabby and Trey Fontenot, Destiny Dupuy and Jerry Ceasar.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Thomas Morvant; his daughter, Mary Elizabeth Morvant; his grandson, Harold Ozare Menard and his brother Louis Morvant.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Delhomme Funeral Home on Bertrand Drive on Friday, May 30, 2014 from 3:00 pm until 10:00 pm. A Rosary will be recited at 7:00 pm on Friday evening in the funeral home. Visiting hours will continue Saturday, May 31, 2014 from 7:00 am until the time of service.

Pallbearers will be Anthony Fontenot, Nicky and Kathleen Gibson, Donald, Toby and Peter Menard. Honorary Pallbearers will be Billy Fusilier, Lonny Gibson, Linton and Wayne Menard.

Delhomme Funeral Home, 1011 Bertrand Drive, Lafayette, LA is in charge of funeral arrangements.
