The Life of William Robert Howard

WILLIAM R. HOWARD, 71 (obit) Delaware County Daily Times (Primos – Upper Darby, PA) – Thursday, December 25, 2008 Former Scott Paper research machinist William R. Howard, 72, of Garnet Valley, a research machinist, died Dec. 23 at Temple University Hospital. Born in Philadelphia, Mr. Howard graduated from John Bartram High School in 1954 He worked at Scott Paper for 32 years as a research machinist. Mr. Howard also worked at Lutheran Knolls for eight years and then at Riddle Memorial Hospital, where he installed Life Lines. He was a longtime member of Elam United Methodist Church, where he was a member of the choir, a Christ Servant minister and a co-founder of the Appalachian Service Project. Mr. Howard also belonged to the West Chester Area Community Chorus and was a member of Fernwood Lodge Nol. 543 F&AM for 50 years. He enjoyed music, travel, sports and history. He loved his family and the Lord. Survivors: Wife, Patricia Wright Howard; daughters, Deborah Mirenda of Pitman, N.J., Laura Lindsay of Glassboro, N.J.; step-daughters, Tracey Miller-Swirchak of Philadelphia, Lori Anderson of Bethlehem; three grandchildren; three step-grandchildren. Service: 11 a.m. Saturday, Elam United Methodist Church, 1073 Smithbridge Road, Glen Mills. Visitation: 9-10:45 a.m. Saturday at the church. A Masonic service is 10:45 a.m. in the church. Burial: in the adjoining church yard. Contributions: Elam United Methodist Church, 1073 Smithbridge Road, Glen Mills, PA 19342 Arrangements: Rigby Funeral Home of Chadds Ford. >>

It was an honor to know Bill a fine Christian man with a remarkable memory of people and places he visited. A member of Elam's Jubilate Choir for many years and a frequent soloist. Bill will always be missed.
