The Life of Norman T Richards

NORMAN T. RICHARDS, 73, of Willow Street, Pa., and formerly of Chester and Media, died Aug. 10 at Lancaster General Hospital. Born in Ebbe Vale, Wales, on Aug. 28, 1921, he was the son of the late William and Edith Richards. A resident of Chester and Media for much of his life, Mr. Richards later lived at Hershey’s Mill, East Goshen, Chester County, before moving to Willow Valley Lakes Manor, Willow Street, near Lancaster, in 1987. Employed in the maintenance department at the Marcus Hook Refinery of Sun Oil. Co. for 42 years, he retired in 1982. Mr. Richards was a member of the Sun Oil Sapphire Club. Mr. Richards was a veteran of both World War II and the Korean War. He served as a sergeant in the U.S. Marine Corps during both wars. Surviving are his wife, Edith Rankin Richards; two daughters, Norma J. Ulshafer of Philadelphia and Debra S. Richards of Media; a son, William T. Richards of Media; and seven grandchildren. The funeral service will be private. Arrangements are by the William S. Bleyley Funeral Home, Upland. A memorial service will occur at 11 a.m. Aug. 26 at the Thomas Auditorium at Willow Valley Lakes Manor, Willow Street, Pa. Instead of flowers, memorial contributions may go to the Cardiac Surgery Research Fund, Lancaster General Hospital Development Office, 555 N.
