The Life of Harry H Forwood

HARRY H. FORWOOD, 41, of Smith’s Bridge Road, died yesterday in Chester County Hospital, West Chester. He had been ill three months. He served 30 months in Europe with the 6th Armored Division during World War II and was wounded in battle. He was awarded the Purple Heart and a distinguished service citation. Born in Elam, he belonged to the American Legion and was a lifelong member of Elam Methodist Church. Mr. Forwood was a carpenter most of his life. He formerly was in construction work and for a year before his illness he was employed on the maintenance staff of the Carpenter estate at Mont Chanin. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Gwyneth Mayne Forwood; his mother, Mrs. Ella Hinkson of Wilmington, Del.; two sisters, Mrs. Mable McShane of Wilmington and Mrs. Willard Galbreath of Keesville, N.Y., and a brother R. Charles Forwood of Elam. Funeral services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. in Elam Methodist Church. Rev. Richard Wells, pastor of Emmanuel Methodist Church, Philadelphia, will officiate.
