The Life of Frank Gibson Edwards Sr.

Frank G. Edwards, 87 October 16, 1999 Boy Scout leader, World War II veteran Frank G. Edwards Sr., 87, of Chadds Ford, retired DuPont lab technician and Boy Scout leader, died Oct.16 at Fair Acres Geriatric Center in Lima. Born in Mill Creek, Pa., Mr. Edwards was a resident of Chadds Ford since 1964. A World War II veteran, he served in the U.S. Army. For 32 years, Mr. Edwards worked as a lab technician at DuPont Experimental Station in Wilmington, before retiring in 1972. After his retirement, he taught roller-skating at many local roller rinks. Mr. Edwards was an avid Boy Scout his entire life and earned Eagle Scout designation. He also devoted many summers to working at Camp Rodney in Northeast Maryland, until he was 85 years old. He was a member of the Upper Birmingham Lodge No. 940 of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows, Delaware Lodge No. 1 of I.O.O.F. and the Elam United Methodist Church. Mr. Edwards was the son of the late Frank L. Edwards and Clara Rodgers. Survivors: Wife of 48 years, Marilyn “Molly” Talley Edwards; daughters, Sharon Blounts of Wilmington, Bonnie Eroh of Linwood, Vera Miller of Lincoln University, Pa., and Marilyn Wiechecki of West Grove, Pa.; sons, Frank G. Edwards Jr. of Unionville, Pa., David Edwards of Nottingham, Pa., and Frank Wesley Edwards of Cary, N.C.; 11 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren. Service: 11 a.m. Wednesday, Elam United Methodist Church, 1073 Smithbridge Road, Glen Mills, Pa. Visitation: 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church. Burial: Adjoining church cemetery.
