John C. McDowell

John C. McDowell, age 93, of Glen Mills, Pa., died June 6, 2015 in Riddle Memorial Hospital.

Born in Philadelphia to the late Horace and Anna McDowell, John graduated from Sharon Hill High School. He worked for Westinghouse for a short time then entered the Marine Corps where he served during World War II from 1940-1946. Upon being honorably discharged, John returned to Westinghouse where he retired as General Foreman after 40 years.

John enjoyed hunting and fishing and was an expert marksman, he served on the board of the Delaware County Sportsman Association in many capacities.

Predeceased by his wife, Evelyn (nee Johnson), and Florence (nee Montgomery). Survived by sons, Gary (Carol), and John McDowell; stepson, Glenn Yarnell (Silvia); grandson, Andrew McDowell; great-grandsons, Jack and Paul McDowell; sisters, Alene Parker and Mary Rash.

Relatives and friends are invited to his Funeral service Thursday, June 11, at 11 a.m. in Elam United Methodist Church, 1073 Smithbridge Road, Glen Mills. Calling 10-11 a.m. Interment Elam Cemetery.
