Carl Wentzel Haseltine, age 93, of Mt. Airy, died on Thursday, March 15, 2012, at his
home.
Born September 8, 1918, in Pittsburgh, PA, he was the son of the late Benjamin Warren
and Lydia Wentzel Haseltine. He was the husband of the late Constance Martin Haseltine
who died in 1996.
Carl was a retired from US Steel after 40 years. He started at US Steel in the mill and
ended up as Superintendent of Production Planning. Carl was a graduate of Bucknell
University. He had served in the Army Air Corp. during World War II. After his retirement
from US Steel he became the tax collector of Churchill Borough for over 20 years. In his
younger years, he was very athletic. He enjoyed playing tennis and swimming and going
for walks. During his working years he bowled in a league. He also enjoyed taking trips to
Florida. He attended Calvary United Methodist Church, Mt. Airy. He was a past president
of his Lion's Club and enjoyed many years of membership. He was a loving and devoted
father and grandfather.
He is survived by daughter and son-in-law: Judith Lynn and Richard Jacobs of Mt. Airy,
grandchildren and their spouses: Keith and Michelle Jacobs, Brian and Kathleen Jacobs,
Eric Jacobs and Kari Jacobs and great-grandchildren: Kaidyn, Tyler, Carly and Luke.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
