The Life of HELEN KATRIN



KATRIN HELEN
Age 93, died August 28, 2017, after a long battle with Alzheimer's Disease. She was born in Yukon, PA 1924 to John and Helena Repnik. She married WWII veteran Alfred Katrin in 1945. She was preceded in death by her brother, John Repnik, sisters, Mary Skrabski and Frances Barr. She was the mother of five children, Helen (late Darrel) Collom, Mary Ann (late Terrence) Browne, Frank (Sylbia), William (late Antoinette), and Robert (late Janet); seven grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. Helen was a resident of South Oakland since her marriage in 1945. She worked in food service at Magee Women's Hospital. She also ran the bingo at the Oakland Community Center for many years. She enjoyed walking in Schenley Park and playing with her pug, Caesar. She enjoyed international travel with her sister, Fran, visiting many countries in Europe. She was a longtime member of Bellefield Presbyterian Church in Oakland. Funeral arrangements are with JOHN N. ELACHKO FUNERAL HOME, Oakland, by her request there will be no viewing and her ashes will be interred with her beloved husband, at Allegheny Cemetery, Pittsburgh.
