The Life of Robert Smedley Stiteler

Bob was a resident of Bloomfield Hills since 1973, formerly of Philadelphia. He also had a home in Melbourne, FL. He was a veteran of the United States Navy, serving from 1948 – 1952. He was stationed on the USS Jupiter, a Navy supply ship, that supplied and re-fueled aircraft carriers. Bob was very patriotic, and took a trip to Hawaii to visit the Pearl Harbor memorial. Bob retired in 1999 after 25 years as an Engineer with Chrysler Corporation. Prior to that he worked as an Engineer for Gulf Oil Corporation for 20 years. He rebuilt cars and dune buggy's and also built model cars. He enjoyed going to air shows, museums and car races with his children. He liked motorcycles, watching NCIS and war history shows. He even got to fly a war bird in Florida, he really enjoyed that. Bob was a member of St. Andrew Church since 1973 and a member of the Society of Automotive Engineers. Beloved husband of Barbara (nee Ferris) for 56 years. Dear father of Rob (Cathy), David (Bethany) and Jeff. Grandfather of Stephen, Allison Rosenberg (Kurt), Sarah, Matthew, Joshua, Natalie, Jonathan, Cailey and Trevor. Family will receive friends at A.J. Desmond & Sons (Vasu, Rodgers & Connell Chapel), 32515 Woodward Ave., Royal Oak Tuesday 4:00-8:00pm. Funeral service Wednesday 11:00am at St. Andrew Lutheran Church, 6255 Telegraph Rd., Bloomfield Hills. Memorial tributes to the American Legion Post 0280 Hartzell Crouthamel, P.O.
