MARGARET KATHLEEN "KAE" BARRY
On Saturday, April 9, 2016, Margaret Kathleen "Kae" Barry McClure, age 95, of Pittsburgh, PA peacefully departed this life at her residence in Churchill. Kae was born in Yorkton, Saskatchewan, Canada on July 20, 1920. She was the third child and eldest daughter of Washington Wilberforce "W.W." and Kathleen (Loughman) Barry. Kae was raised in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada before moving with her family to Pittsburgh. She was a homemaker, known within the family for her lovely needlework. Always civic minded, Kae was an early member of the Blackridge Civic Association, belonged to Churchill Garden Club, and delivered Meals-on-Wheels for many years. As a young woman, she served on the board of the Florence Crittenton Home; she later served on the board of the Jane Holmes Residence. In 1988, Kae was awarded a Certificate of Recognition as a 50-year member of Eastminster Presbyterian Church, and served as a deacon, elder, and trustee within that church. Additionally, Kae was a proud member of the Women's Canadian Club of Pittsburgh and a former president of that organization. She also held memberships to the University Club, PAA, and Edgewood Country Club for many years. In addition to her parents, Kae was preceded in death by her loving husband of 58 years, William "Billy" Thomas McClure, former owner of the McClure-Johnson Company; brothers, William, Alan, John "Jack" Barry; sisters, Doreen Dickson, Rosamond Fernandez de Irrisari, Joan Schleihauf; and well loved brother-in-law, Richard Schleihauf. She is survived by her only child, Kathy Anne McClure Straccia, Pittsburgh, PA; and granddaughters, Kate McClure Spencer Straccia and Molly McClure Ashmead Straccia; and much loved sister-in-law, Beatrice (Barry) Thompson, Frederick, MD. Friends will be received at Wednesday 2-4, 6-8 p.m. at WOLFE MEMORIAL, INC., Forest Hills Chapel, 3604 Greensburg Pike, Pittsburgh, PA 15221. A memorial service to honor Kae's life will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 16, 2016, at Eastminster Presbyterian Church, Pittsburgh (East Liberty). The family requests that donations in Kae's name be made to Presbyterian Senior Care at Home C/O David McCartney, 1215 Hulton Road, Oakmont, PA 15139.
