JOHN "KEEFE", Jr.
On June 24, 2017, son of the late John "Jack" Ellis, Sr. and Rose (Bearer) Ellis, passed away at the age of 61 surrounded by his loving and devoted family. He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Stacy (Hughes); adoring children, Emily, Jake, Caroline, and Patrick; brother, Dr. Peter Ellis; sister, Constance (Mark) Heppenstall; nieces, Mary Heppenstall, Melissa, Sarah, Monica, and Michelle Bundy; nephews, Kyle and Charlie Heppenstall, Andrew, Peter and Thad Ellis; and numerous cousins. Keefe graduated from Shady Side Academy in 1974, The University of Virginia in 1978 and The University of Pittsburgh Business School in 1981. Keefe was generous in all aspects of his life, devoting himself to the Children's Institute Board for 15 years, the Shady Side Academy Board for 12 years, also serving on the Board of St. Vincent De Marillac and working tirelessly for St. Bede Church and school in his 61 years as a parishioner. He was fortunate to have worked with his father at Ellis Real Estate for 30 years, merging into Langholz Wilson Ellis in 2005, and eventually into Hanna Langholz Wilson Ellis in 2014. Keefe celebrated life everyday and shared his kind heart, quick wit and infectious personality with everyone he encountered and will be sorely missed by all who knew him. Friends will be received on Tuesday, June 27, 2017, from 3 p.m.-7 p.m. at JOHN A. FREYVOGEL SONS, INC., 4900 Centre Avenue at Devonshire Street, (freyvogelfuneralhome.com). Funeral Wednesday, June 28, 2017, Mass of Christian Burial at St. Bede Parish at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Shady Side Academy Science Building Fund or St. Bede School Stem Lab Fund.
