PHILLIPS MARTHA J.
Age 89, of San Marcos, CA, on June 13, 2017, at Palomar Hospital. She was a daughter of the late Harry P. and Jeannette (Dana) Jones. She was the widow of her beloved William B. whom she met while working at IBM after giving up teaching at Pennsylvania College for Women (now Chatham University). She had earned her Bachelor's at Dennison University and her Master's at Duke University. Before moving to California, she had been a member of Shadyside Presbyterian Church, of the Daughters of the American Revolution, and a volunteer with the Visiting Nurses Association. In California, she was a member of The United Church. She was the beloved mother of Mary, of Pittsburgh, of Robert, and grandmother of Owen, and of the late Blaine (Dr.) and grandmother of Sara, all of California. A private memorial and interment will be held in The Homewood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network (PanCan.org).
