The Life of Glennis J. Rogers

Life Story
Glennis Jane Rogers was born on June 27, 1938 to the late George Collier and Almeta Brown-Collier. Glennis was the youngest of four children born of this union, G. Milton, Barbara, Shirley and Glennis.

She was primarily educated in the Philadelphia Public School system but graduated from the Downingtown Industrial and Agricultural School in Downingtown, PA.

Glennis and the love of her life, Shanley F. Rogers met in the early 1950’s. They were married June 14, 1958, fifty-eight years of being lifelong lovers. From this union, they were blessed with four lovely children, Rhonda, Paula, Stacee, and Marc.

Their lifelong relationship has been an example to many young people especially, married couples.  Glennis Rogers leaves a legacy to follow for all the young and older to follow. She was supportive, loving, funny and tough, she wanted you to make something out of your life and be productive, “Ms. Glennis” (as known by her neighbors) was a prime example of a loving wife and very good mother. Her Children put it this way, “My mother, my mother, without a doubt was the smartest person I know”, “My mother is simply the best:” “My mother was my light” “My mother was my rock”.
Her Sister, Shirley voiced,” My sister, My Best friend”.

Glennis loved the Lord always keeping God foremost front and center, in her life. Glennis was a faithful member of Devereux United Methodist Church. At Devereux, she was a member of the United Methodist Woman’s group and she was the Coordinator of the Senior Program at the church. She attended and served her church diligently until illness kept her from attending.

Glennis enjoyed swimming, shopping, cooking, dancing, and visiting the casinos. However, more than anything else, she loved to spend time with family and friends and neighbors often sought her out for advice. Glennis was locally famous for her potato salad and she always seemed to have just enough for every visitor of the day.

Glennis was preceded in death by her father George, her mother Almeta, her brother G. Milton, and her sister Barbara.

Tuesday May 30, 2017 God from the portals of heaven summoned his daughter to, “Come home” and  “Glennis Jane Rogers  answered the call,”

Glennis leaves to cherish her memories her loving husband of 58 years, Shanley; four children Rhonda, Paula, Stacee, Marc Sr.; one sister Mrs. Shirley Morrison, three grandchildren (Rodney) Blair, Marc Jr., and Breyauna; son-in-law Kenneth; daughter-in-law Dawn; brother-in-law, Jerome, adopted grandson Rodney and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Friday's with Glennis

I would call Miss Glennis on a Friday because it was my day to iron and I had more time to talk. She helped me get through the loss of both my parents. We would talk about life and its ups and downs. She would get a kick out of my stories of how I loved to use my swiffer. Joe and I will miss her very much. Our hearts go out to Rhonda, Paula, Stacee and Roger. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all. We will Miss you Miss Glennis. Our memories of you will stay with us always. Love you all. Tony & Joe.
