Age 82, of Pittsburgh, died peacefully at home on May 13, 2017, following a stroke two weeks ago. Dr. Segel is survived by his beloved wife, Elizabeth; his two children, Kenneth and Amy; his daughter-in-law, Sara; son-in-law, Chris Taranta; six grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews. Dr. Segel worked most of his career at Montefiore Hospital and UPMC, where he touched the lives of countless patients, medical students and residents, colleagues, and staff. He was a dedicated volunteer, activist, and patron of the arts. The family would welcome stories and other remembrances of Dr. Segel emailed to rememberingdps@gmail.com.
