She was a patron of several artistic institutions in Pittsburgh, particularly the Pittsburgh Public Theater. She also contributed to the National Red Cross, the local food bank, Pittsburgh museums, and the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust, and while she had no children of her own, she was a generous supporter of the Children's Hospital Free Care Fund. Her lifelong passion was art, and she won many awards for her pastel portraits while living in Florida. She was an avid bridge player before macular degeneration took its toll.
