The Life of Erle E. Ehly
Ehly, Erle E., 98, of Roxborough, PA, died Friday, March 10, 2017, at Foulkeways at Gwynedd. Erle graduated from Roxborough High School and Temple University. He was a retired Colonel of the U.S. Army, and was a Temple University administrator for over 39 years. He is preceded in death by his wife, Janet E. (nee Toperzer), his second wife, Susan, and brother, Robert J. He is survived by his children: Janet Louise Aldinger (Bruce Aldinger), William Erle (Jackie), and Glen Robert (Mary Ellen); 8 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren; and sister in-law, Carol. Visitation at 11 a.m. and Funeral at 12 noon, Thursday, March 16th at the Chapel of Peace at West Laurel Hill Cemetery, 225 Belmont Ave., Bala Cynwyd, PA 19004. Interment immediately following. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Wyncote Audubon Society, 1212 Edgehill Rd., Abington, PA 19001. Arrangements by West Laurel Hill Funeral Home, Inc.

Kind and helpful neighbors
Erle and Janet Ehly welcomed me as their next door neighbor some 29 years ago. Erle and Janet gave us a rake and a bottle of wine when they came to say hello. Over the years, Erle always had some helpful hints on house projects, while Janet offered some tips on gardening. I was always amazed at how Erle would fix everything himself- including the roof- and shovel even my sidewalk in the winter and now his lawn no matter how hot it was during the summer. Erle and Janet shared stories of their extensive travels, their children and grandchildren and their careers. When we got our dog, Erle always stopped to pet him and say hello. When we adopted our children, both Erle and Janet were so happy for us. I was very fortunate to have such wonderful neighbors, and am lucky that his grandchildren are my neighbors now. May Erle and Janet Rest In Peace.
