Age 81, of Homewood, peacefully on June 4, 2012. Beloved husband of 48 years of Doris V. Coleman. Bill became a paraplegic following a sporting accident in 1945 at the age of 14; however, he led a very productive life! He received a degree in Business Education from the Duffs Business School. He was employed for 40 years as an accountant at the former Harmarville Rehabilitation Center (Health South). Bill always looking to improve the lives of those with physical limitations and was honored for his efforts by several organizations including: 3 Rivers Center for Independent Living, Open Doors for the Handicapped, Competitive Employment Opportunities, West Arm Physical Therapy, and the Sickle Cell Society. He is also survived by children, Eartha Jackson-deBardelaben (David) and Kevin Jackson (Frances); brother, Lawrence E. Coleman (Shirley); brother-in-law, Calvin Buntin; four grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; and many other nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. The family suggest contributions in William's name to: Open Doors for the Handicapped, PO Box 419, Carnegie, PA 15106. "If I can help somebody as I pass along, If I can cheer somebody with a word or song, Then my living shall not be in vain". Services private.
