JEANNE MacNEIL
Age 87, of Longwood at Oakmont, formerly of O'Hara Twp., died Thursday, January 19, 2017. Wife of 63 years to the late Franklin B. Allison; mother of John (Cecile) Allison and Sam Allison; grandmother of Margot, Paige and Matthew. Preceded in death by her parents, Alvin and Grace MacNeil; two sisters, Judith and Geraldine; and brother, Samuel. The oldest of six siblings, she is survived her sisters, Nancy and Marilyn; and many nieces and nephews. Born and raised in Fox Chapel, she graduated from Aspinwall High School and Indiana University of Pennsylvania. A homemaker and volunteer most of her life, she did have two jobs outside the home that she relished: a telephone sales agent for TWA in the 1950s and, starting at age 65, a clerk at Bookworks in Fox Chapel Plaza (and later with Aspinwall Bookshop). Her volunteer work included the Kingsley Association, Children's Hospital and Contact Pittsburgh. She served on the Altar Guild and in other roles at Fox Chapel Episcopal Church (now Christ Church Fox Chapel), where she was a faithful member throughout her adult life. Friends will be be received Friday, January 27, 2017, from 5 to 8 p.m. at WEDDELL - AJAK FUNERAL HOME, 100 Center Ave., Aspinwall. A funeral service will be held at Christ Church Fox Chapel, 630 Squaw Run Road East, Pittsburgh, PA 15238, on Saturday, January 28, 2017, at 11 a.m. Interment Homewood Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Christ Church Fox Chapel or the Cooper-Siegel Community Library in Fox Chapel.
