The Life of Dr. Stanley C. Leonberg Jr.

LEONBERG, DR. STANLEY C., JR., of Marlton, formerly of Moorestown and Medford passed away with his family by his side on Nov. 20, 2016, he was 89.
Dr Leonberg, who received his medical degree from Hahnemann Medical College in 1954, was the first Neurologist in Southern New Jersey. He practiced at many PA and NJ hospitals, including Cooper Hospital University Medical Center, where he was on staff from 1956-1995 and served on the Board of Trustees. He served as President of the American EEG Association and as Clinical Associate Professor in Neurology for UMDNJ-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. He was a pioneer in Stroke Research and authored countless medical papers. Dr. Leonberg was an avid fisherman throughout his life and a proud Eagle Scout.
Stanley is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Jane (nee Heimbach), his devoted children, Barbara L. Morgan, Curtis R. (Lois), Gregory D. and Beth L. He is also survived by adoring grandchildren, Christopher, Benjamin, Andrew, Cynthia, Gregory, Jr., Geoffrey, Dennison, Alisenne, Aleksandr and Svetlana. He was pre-deceased by grandchildren, Geremey and Anneliese.
A viewing for Dr. Leonberg will be held on Friday Nov. 25th from 7:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. at his former residence, THE LECHNER FUNERAL HOME, 24 N. Main St. Medford, NJ 08055. A viewing will also be held on Saturday Nov. 26th from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. at the Moorestown First United Methodist Church, 446 E. Camden Ave. Moorestown, NJ 08057 A funeral service will immediately follow at the church. Interment will be held at West Laurel Hill Cemetery, Bala Cynwyd, PA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Dr. Leonberg's memory may be made to the Moorestown First United Methodist Church Building Fund, address above.
