The Life of Sandy Bressler

BRESSLER, Sandy Bressler (nee Gross), 67, of Philadelphia, died Monday, October 17, 2016. Sandy was an arts advocate, an accomplished artist and a crusader for many causes. She received her undergraduate degree in Fine Arts from Skidmore College and her PhD in Folklore from the University of Pennsylvania. She was the Executive Director of the Philadelphia Art Commission and the Percent for Art Program during the Wilson Goode administration. Her previous positions were Manager of Arts and Culture in the Office of the City Representative, the Curator of the Atwater Kent Museum, and prior to that, one of the installers of the Kienbusch collection of the Philadelphia Museum of Art. She is predeceased by her father, Neal Gross, and survived by her beloved husband of 31 years, Peter, children, Jessica (Ben Summer) and Zachary (Denise), grandchildren, Ayla and Taden, mother, Pan Gross, siblings, Lorrie Gross and Richard Gross (Linda Gross), nephew Jeff Gross, and extended family, Anne Ronne, and her children, Laura, Robert, John and Jody. Shiva will be observed at the late residence, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, from 7-9 p.m. Arrangements by West Laurel Hill Funeral Home, Inc.
