Burton Ward Ingersoll, 92, of Glen Carbon, IL, formerly of Troy, IL, passed away on Tuesday, July 12, 2016, at Anderson Hospital, Maryville, IL. Burt was born July 11, 1924, to William and Frances (nee Ward) Ingersoll in Philadelphia, PA. Following his graduation from Upper Darby High School, Burt honorably served his country as a United States Marine, guarding the Panama Canal during WWII. Following his military service, Burt worked at Boyd Supply in downtown Philadelphia where he met the love of his life, and on July 20, 1946, in Media, PA, Burt married Ethel Mae Price. They enjoyed 59 years of marriage. Burt worked 25 years for Swift and Company in merchandise sales and management. Mr. Ingersoll then worked as an employment recruiter specializing in chefs, restaurant and hotel management, eventually owning his own company, Executive Sales in Clayton, MO from which he retired in 1987. Burt was preceded in death by his wife, parents and brother-in-law and sister-in-law Anthony and Dorothy (Price) Ciapetta. Surviving are his son, William (Linda) Ingersoll; daughter, Lynne Ingersoll all of Troy, IL; grandsons, Michael Honeycutt (Leah Elston) and Brian (Megan) Ingersoll all of Wisconsin; loving nephews, nieces, grand nephews and nieces who hold the greatest respect for their Uncle Burt. Burt's friends and family will long remember his steadfast love, cheerful nature, willingness to help others, and ability to touch lives in a positive way. He loved his country and its flag and enjoyed Cardinal Baseball, a fine beef roast and apple pie.

Following Burt's wishes private services were held and he will be interred next to his beloved, Ethel Mae, in West Laurel Hill Cemetery, Pennsylvania.
