The Life of LOUIS MANNO

Louis Manno

Louis Manno of 579 North Cottage Road, Mercer, Pa., passed peacefully at his house on Thursday night, in the presence of his niece Adriana Nocka of Mercer, Pa.

He was the husband of the late Jean (Scott) Manno.

He was born in Jamestown, N.Y., on May 2, 1926, the son of the late Nicola and Evanthia (Ketchy) Manno.

He was a graduate of Jamestown High School in 1944. He joined the U.S. Navy right after graduation and served aboard the USS WASP CV-18 in the radio group, in the South Pacific and Europe.

After the war, he went to Clarkson University, Potsdam, N.Y., to graduate with an engineering degree in 1951. After moving to Pittsburgh, Pa., he worked at Westinghouse Electric Corporation, as a principal engineer, for 34 years, before retiring.

Lou was a member of Tau Beta Pi, Pi Tau Sigma and the Engineer Society. He was a 32 Degree Mason, a member of the Infinity Lodge 546 and Scottish Rite Gourgas Lodge of Perfection. He was also a member of the St. Elia Orthodox Church in James-town, N.Y.

Besides his parents, Louis was predeceased by his wife Jean in 1990; brothers: Joe and Bill; and sisters: Helen and Virginia.

He is survived by his niece, Adriana; grandniece Anilda at the residence; and by nephews, nieces and their respective families Manno and Scott.

Visitation will be held at Cunningham Funeral Home, Inc., 144 S. Pitt St., Mercer, PA 16137 on Tuesday, Sept. 20, 2016 from 10 a.m. until time of service. Funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, Sept. 20, 2016, noon. Father Gregory Becker, officiating.
