The Life of Robert C. Regan
REGAN, Robert “Bob”, 86, passed away July 5th, 2016. Robert was born in 1930 in Indianapolis, Indiana. He was educated at Centenary College in Louisiana and went to graduate school at Harvard University (MA) and the University of California, Berkeley (PhD). He was employed as a professor at the University of Virginia from 1963-67, and for more than three decades he was a professor of American Literature and Mark Twain scholar at the University of Pennsylvania. Bob was a Commander in the Naval Reserve, and served active duty in Korea and Vietnam. He was an avid collector of rare books, and an extraordinary chef. He is survived by his first wife Carole Ann Bennett Regan, his wife of 32 years Mary Katherine Regan (nee Hester), son Christopher Regan, step-son David Jeanclos and his twin daughters Amelia and Alison Regan. A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday July 8th at West Laurel Hill Cemetery, 225 Belmont Avenue, Bala Cynwyd, PA.
