The Life of Alfred Wolsky

ALFRED A., 95, of Lansdale, PA died on Monday, May 16, 2016. He was born in the Coal Region of Shenandoah, PA to immigrant parents from Poland, and was the second child of four. Alfred is survived by one sister, Marie Wolsky. Alfred served in the United States Army during World War II, where he was stationed aboard a medical ship that traveled over the oceans bringing those injured in the war back to the United States. He was Honorably Discharged in November of 1945 with the rank of Staff Sergeant. He was accepted for Officer Training, but instead chose to leave the Army. He then applied at Medical College but was not selected. Mr. Wolsky studied pre-medical and chemistry at the University of Pennsylvania under the G.I. Bill of Rights. He completed his Chemistry Degree in three years graduating in June of 1949. Mr. Wolsky joined the Atlantic Refining Company as a Chemist after his graduation. Later meeting Betty Meehan at work they married. He retired from ARCO Chemical Company in December of 1982. Mr. Wolsky was one of the founding scientists at MACH I, Inc., in King of Prussia, PA. He worked with MACH I from 1985 until his death. Al and Betty lived in Fort Washington, PA until they moved to Lafayette Hill. In 2002 they moved to Brittany Pointe Estates in Lansdale, PA. They enjoyed living there, made many new friends, but also had many friends that also moved to Brittany Pointe as well. Al and Betty kept busy there, and Al was involved with some of the different committees for many years. He also took the blind out golfing, and the M.A.B.G.A. was an important part of his life, and he truly enjoyed meeting with this wonderful group of people. Al also served in the Historical Society, and until just weeks ago still attended meetings, and he loved financial strategies. Relatives and friends are invited to greet the family on Monday, May 23, 2016 from 9:30-10:30 A.M. at Corpus Christi Roman Catholic Church, 900 Sumneytown Pike, Lansdale, PA 19446, where his Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 A.M. Burial at West Laurel Hill Cemetery in Bala Cynwyd, PA will be private. Funeral Arrangements by HUFF & LAKJER FUNERAL HOME
