The Life of Barbara A. Miley
MILEY, Barbara A., 75 died peacefully, Sunday, November 8, 2015 at The Hearth at Drexel in Bala Cynwyd, PA. Barbara was born in Greensboro, NC, attended Dudley High School, Class of ’57, graduated from North Carolina A & T State University in 1963 with a BS in Nursing, and earned her Master’s in Nursing Administration from New York University. She was also a proud member of Delta Sigma Theta sorority. She lived and worked as a nurse in the Bronx for 30 years until retiring to Greensboro. She recently moved to Philadelphia to be closer to her daughter and grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, Raymond Sr. and Beatrice (nee Floyd), and siblings Betty Louise Jarell, Delores Jean Joyner, and Raymond Miley, Jr. She is survived by her daughter, Dara Raspberry (Helena Miller), grandchildren, Zivah and Raphael Raspberry, and siblings Farid Abdulsalam, Linda, Claire Stephens, and Bessie Miley-Jones. She also leaves behind a host of loving cousins, nieces and nephews. Visitation at 11 am and Funeral at 12 noon, Thursday November 12th at Bringhurst Funeral Home at West Laurel Hill Cemetery in Bala Cynwyd, PA. Interment immediately following. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Lewy Body Dementia Association (www.lbda.org) or the Bronx Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta, PO Box 102, Bronx, NY 10467 - indicate in the memo “Scholarship in Memory of Barbara Miley".
