The Life of Elinor Carol
CAROL, Elinor (nee Trobbe), 86, of Wynnewood, PA, died on Sunday, August 23, 2015. She is survived by her husband of 63 years, former Concert Master of the Philadelphia Orchestra, Norman Carol, her children, Leslie (Michael Irving) and Daniel (Joyce Berman), grandchildren: Emily Irving, Katherine Shepard (Paul Shepard), Robin Carol, James and Robert Irving, and Jack Carol, and great granddaughter, Olive Shepard. Elinor was the life of any party and a great spoiler of the grandchildren. She was formerly president of the Rittenhouse Square Women’s Committee, a docent at the Academy of Music, a contributor of the Philadelphia Orchestra’s cookbook and known unofficially as tour director of the spouses of the Philadelphia Orchestra players when on tour.
