The Life of David Graham-Cumming

David Graham-Cumming of Avondale, Pa. David Graham-Cumming, 73, of Avondale, Pa. passed away on Sunday, July 12, 2015. Born in Northern Ireland, David was the son of the late Mary and David Graham-Cumming of England. David’s parents returned to England where he was educated obtaining “prefect” and passing his “A” level exams. He worked for John & Edmond Sturge before joining Burroughs Business Machines where he rapidly climbed the ladder as the age of computers was just beginning. While troubleshooting computer problems in the United States, David met and married Dorothy P. Sulzberger of Merion, Pa. They returned to England before transferring to Pickering Ontario Canada. David left Burroughs and worked for Unisys before his retirement in 1984. He and Dorothy moved to Avondale in 2001 and once settled, David volunteered for the Avondale Fire Department in the role of Fire Police. In 2007 he became a U.S. Citizen. David was an avid reader, enjoying books, politics and world events. He loved golf, playing often and always watching the current tournament. David was the loving husband of Dorothy P. Graham-Cumming (nee Sulzberger), with whom he shared 40 years of marriage; and dear brother of Andrew Graham-Cumming and Elisabeth Al Khilafa (nee Graham-Cumming), both of England. He is also survived by 10 nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held at West Laurel Hill Cemetery, 215 Belmont Ave, Bala Cynwyd, PA 19004 at 1 p.m. on Wednesday July 22. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Avondale Fire Department, 23 Firehouse Way, Avondale, PA 19311. Arrangements are being handled by The Donohue Funeral Home
