The Life of Margie Rouse-Blumenthal

Margie M. Rouse-Blumenthal was the daughter of the late Willie Rouse, Sr. and Josephine Rouse.  She was born on August 17, 1960 in Philadelphia, PA.  A native of the Wynnefield section of West Philadelphia, she attended Overbrook High School and later went on to attend LaSalle University.  She graduated from LaSalle with a Bachelor of Science in Social Work.   Margie contributed to the mental health and behavioral health fields for more than 20 years. Since 2011 she served as a Behavioral Health Associate at Belmont Behavioral Health – Einstein Healthcare Network.

She enjoyed decorating her home, spending time with her family and friends, and traveling. Margie also had a “no nonsense” personality where no one could take advantage of her or her loved ones.  Margie touched the lives of many people with her smile and boisterous personality, and always maintained a good sense of humor.  Margie married the love of her life Bernhardt “Bernie” Blumenthal on August 24, 1996.  They enjoyed traveling the world together.  Margie was a devoted wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, and professional.

In addition to her mother Mrs. Josephine Rouse, she is survived by her son Adrian, and her niece Tamika who was like a daughter, three step-children Erika, Heidemarie, Lore-Elizabeth, and Karl-Rainer. She also leaves three sisters Joan Marie, Cynthia, and Delores, seven brothers Dennis, Eugene, Alvin, Richard, Willie Jr., Michael, and Kenneth, and a host of family and friends to also cherish her memory.

Margie and I once had a relationship which brought Adrian Jr here into this world. We went our seperate ways, but made sure that Adrian Jr was given all opportunities as possible. Loosing Mom is very hard, I know that my son will handle it, as I had to with my Mom - and learn to live day by day. Dying so young is something that is never expected, and never truly understood. All we can do to live forward is to remember the good times and just breathe.
