The Life of David Palmer

David Anthony Palmer “Dave” was born March 3, 1950 in Philadelphia, PA.  On Saturday morning, May 30, 2015 he changed his address to his home with the Lord.  Dave was the son of the late Viola Byard and Exodus Crockett.  He was number eleven of twelve children.

As a lifelong resident of Philadelphia, Dave was educated in the Philadelphia Public School System.  He had a passion for learning and was self-taught in many things like computing.  He was also a licensed Notary Public.

On June 13, 1968, Dave married the love of his life, Carol A. Saunders.  From that union were raised two wonderful and devoted sons, Mark A. and Hikine E. Palmer.  Dave and Carol were blessed to enjoy forty-seven years of marriage.  They were often referred to as “Two Peas in a Pod”.

He had a long and fruitful thirty-year career at the Philadelphia Art Museum ultimately as a Maintenance Engineer.  He was hardworking, dedicated and highly respected and supported on his job.  During his five-year battle with Cancer he deeply appreciated the encouragement and support he received from his co-workers.

Dave was a fun-loving, extremely generous, good-natured and family-centered man that knew how to enjoy life.  He was the life of the party.  He was always known as an immaculate dresser with a flair for style.  He was grounded in principle and could be counted on to speak his mind.  His strongest attribute was his love for family and friends.  Anyone in this circle enjoyed endless good times being entertained with scrumptious and plentiful good food, music and good company.

His grandchildren: Ashley, Makayla, Keiana, Hikine Jr. and Morgan and his two great grandchildren, Kalayah and Taylor were the second loves of his life.  They started with Ashley having them over every other weekend.  “Pop-Pop” was always there for them and delighted in their company.  He was adored by his nieces and nephews and was affectionately known as “Pepperhead”.

Those left to celebrate his life are: his loving wife of forty-seven years, Carol A. Palmer, two sons, Mark and Hikine Palmer, five grandchildren two great grandchildren, four brothers: Walter Palmer, Lawrence Palmer, Thomas Palmer and Robert Crockett, two sisters: Brenda Brown and Gloria Wilson, one daughter-in-law, Keesha Palmer and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, cousins and many friends.
