The Life of Stella Botelho M.D.

BOTELHO, STELLA Y., 96, of Blue Bell, on March 11, 2015. Stella graduated from Radnor High School and the University of Pennsylvania, then received her MD from the former Women's Medical College, now Drexel University School of Medicine. She was a Professor at the University of Pennsylvania, retiring in 1981 as Emeritus Professor of Physiology. From 1949-1981, her fields of research included respiratory, neuromuscular, and secretory physiology. Stella was the author or co-author of over 80 papers and abstracts in scientific journals. From the late 1950's - 1970's, she was a Visiting Professor or Lecturer at universities in England, India, Panama, and Japan, and was on the scientific review panels for the National Science Foundation, National Research Council, and the National Institutes of Health. She was awarded membership in medical honor society, Alpha Omega Alpha, and scientific honor society, Sigma Xi. Stella was a member of countless organizations, associ-ations and clubs.
