After 36 years, I still think of you as my Class President. You have been a great friend since high school even though we barely talked then. You are the one I turned to when I needed help with anything including my prior art search. I circled a DC bridge numerous times to see you during the Cherry Blossom Festival, only to learn that I was circling the wrong bridge. I will always remember our hug two years ago when our paths finally crossed again! Rest in peace, my dear “Class Long,” hope to reunite with you at the right bridge, our bridge, one day!

I knew Aimin through my college friend Shunian He thirty years ago. In those college days, often on the weekends, Aimin would show up at our dorm. With a bright smile and softly spoken voice, Aimin would light up the room instantly. Three of us talked and laughed through the night, from the silly girl crush to our dreams for the future. Thirty years later, here is my heart once more to share those beautiful moments. Amid all the gloom, Aimin, you’re a ray of sunshine. For this, I’m forever inspired and touched. Aimin, you left us too soon, we still have so much to talk about, so much to do... It seems like only yesterday that we were talking about taking a trip together when you got better. I will not dwell on regret and what could have been. Instead I will wish for you to find peace and joy in heaven, and hope that we will someday meet again and continue our unfinished business.

It was more than 30 years ago when I last saw you. When Jenny called me today with the sad news, I immediately remembered your low-key, kind, yet effective disposition. Your presence always commanded respect. Over the years, I have increasingly learned how important it is to have your characteristics, and how much our world needs people like you.
