The Life of May C. Schwartz
May C. Schwartz, 94, of Lansdale, entered into the presence of her Lord Wednesday, January 21, 2015 at Dock Terrace. She was the beloved wife of the late Charles E. Schwartz, her husband of 65 years, who died February 3, 2013. Born May 13, 1920 in Buckingham, PA, she was a daughter of the late Ralph and May (Liddell) Crowell. She was raised on her family farm, Sunnyside Acres, which was widely known for its peaches and apples. Mrs. Schwartz attended Wharton Business School and Wheaton College before earning her Bachelors and Masters Degrees in education from the University of Pennsylvania. She taught Physical Education and, later, third grade at Buckingham Elementary, retiring after over 40 years of service. May was a longtime member of First Baptist Church, Doylestown. More recently, she was a member of Bethany Bible Fellowship Church, Hatfield. Over the years, she was a dedicated Sunday School teacher, camp counselor, and Pioneer Girls leader. She will be remembered as a faithful servant of her Lord and her family. Survivors include her daughters, Virginia M. Schoonover and her husband, Harold, of Lansdale, and Lois A. Sollenberger and her husband, Robert, of Williamsburg, PA; four grandchildren, Jeffrey Schoonover and his wife, Rigel, of Telford, Ruth Gavin and her husband, Aaron, of Macungie, Rebecca Walter and her husband, Clay, of Nampa, ID, and Elizabeth Sollenberger of Williamsburg, PA; and ten great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Crystal Sollenberger and Virginia Sollenberger; and her sister, Florence "Flossie" Simons. Relatives and friends may call after 3:00 p.m. Monday, January 26, 2015 at Bethany Bible Fellowship Church, 75 West Broad St., Hatfield, PA 19440, followed by the Memorial Service at 3:30 p.m. Burial will be private in West Laurel Hill Cemetery.
