The Life of Ellen W. Taylor

TAYLOR, Ellen W. (nee Krauss), 91, entered into eternal peace on Wednesday, July 30, 2014, at Barclay Friends in West Chester, PA.

Ellen was born on May 21, 1923, daughter of the late Walter and Ellen Krauss. She graduated from Spring City High School in 1940 and went on to obtain a degree in art from Kutztown State Teachers College in 1944 and in 1952 she received a M.S. in Education from University of Pennsylvania.  Ellen taught art in the West Chester Area School District from 1951 to 1986 when she retired. She married the late Roland Taylor on April 22, 1989.

While teaching and living in West Chester, Ellen continued to develop her interest in stage design and worked with various civic groups in addition to designing for several Miss Pennsylvania pageants held in her local area.  This experience led her to work in Reading, PA and she became affiliated with the Pennsylvania Jr. Miss Pageant for a number of years. 

During Ellen’s entire life she was an avid dog lover, beginning with her two dogs from her youth, Raggy Boy and Pumpkin.

She was predeceased by her husband Roland A. Taylor in 2000.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 5, 2014 beginning at 11 a.m.,  and Services at noon, at Founds Funeral Home, 229 S. High Street, West Chester, PA 19382. Interment immediately following at West Laurel Hill Cemetery, Bala Cynwyd, PA.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Clinic for Special Children, 535 Bunker Hill Road, Strasburg, PA  17579.
