The Life of Eleanor Huff

ELEANOR MASON STAM, 88, passed away peacefully on Monday, Dec. 9, 2013 in New Holland, Pa. Eleanor was born Aug. 29, 1925, to Ella Mason and John Rudolph Stam. She grew up in Narberth, Pa., and graduated from Lower Merion High School in 1943. The LMHS yearbook describes her as "cheerfulness surmounting any obstacle."  Eleanor worked for the Church of the Good Samaritan in Paoli, Pa., the University of Pennsylvania Press, and the Wharton School, retiring from Penn in 1990. Throughout her adult life, she volunteered for the Episcopal Church.  Eleanor Huff/Hickey is survived by her husband, Thomas L. Hickey. Her second husband, H. Ronald Paige, died in 1986, and her third husband, Tom Huff, died in 1995. She is also survived by her son, Ted Scharf, (Andrea Zigman), and Rob Scharf. Surviving children and grandchildren through marriage include: John, Brandon, Megan, Bruce (Debby), Rob, (Devani), Adam, Came, and Michael Paige; Tory Huff (John) Newman, and Craig (Minerva) Huff; and Tom P., (Christine), Laurie Ann, Peter (Lauren), Matthew, Joseph, and Mary Teresa Hickey. Eleanor is also survived by cousins, nieces, nephews, close friends and her first husband, Fred Scharf. A Memorial Service will take place on Saturday, Jan. 11, 2014, at 2 P.M. at Bangor Episcopal Church, Caernarvon, Pa. A reception to remember and celebrate Eleanor's life will follow.
