I learned from other relatives that Delores lived in Philadelphia from other relatives around 2003. We talked on the telephone for about two (2) years discussing family members and became better acquainted. There came a time around 2005 when I was working in Philadelphia, and I asked if I might visit when my project was completed in Philadelphia. Delores was doing volunteer work at the Ronald McDonal House and we agreed that I would pick her up at work and take her home. I arrived early and found this to be a secure building and the gate was locked and I could not approach the premises so I continued to wait in my vehicle. At this point Delores and I had never seen each other before, nor had a clue what the other looked like. At the appropiate time that we agreed to meet, a very elegant woman walked out of the building, with grey hair, skin and complection similar to my own mother, who walked like my own mother, and when we both saw each other and before the first word was spoken, we knew we were related. When the first words were spoken, I could hear through her voice, my grand mother, Mary Witt Washington, Susie Witt McCain and katie Witt Knox and that sealed the deal without me having to say a word, needless to say the romance was on. During my three (3) day stay, we went to an outdoor Jazz Concert that was held in the front of an old Fire Station about two (2) blocks from her house. We had a great time in a very short period of time. One of the most important discussions was the family history in which she was one of the only living persons who was able to bring clarification to some old lingering questions about the Witt family. May God bless the immediate members of the Tart family the new challenges are being met during this difficult period.
