The Life of George A. Stolzer

Stolzer, George A., 88, of Roxborough, PA died Tuesday, March 11, 2014. George was a Philadelphia firefighter for over 35 years and considered a second dad to many. He was a WWII veteran, Boy Scout leader and known in his neighborhood as Santa Claus for more than 50 years, visiting nursing homes, scout troops and the Ronald MacDonald House. He had many talents and was an avid painter and even wrote a book called “Mud on My Shoes”. He is described by his children as wise, loving, non-judgmental and had a great sense of humor. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Doris, children; Craig, Paula, Debbie Hamilton (Dave), Donna Betoni, Steve Thacker (Patty) and nine grandchildren, five great grandchildren and a very large extended family. He is predeceased by his brother Frank.  A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, June 7, 2014, 11 a.m., at Bringhurst Funeral Home at West Laurel Hill Cemetery, 225 Belmont Ave., Bala Cynwyd, PA 19004.
