The Life of COL. WALLACE BRUCE COLBERT
Colonel Wallace Bruce Colbert of Leake County, Mississippi, voted on January 9, 1861 for the 'Ordinance of Secession' for the state of Mississippi. He organized the 40th Mississippi at Meridian, MS. Colonel Colbert was mortally wounded while leading the 40th Mississippi Infantry in the last gallant Confederate charge of the war at Bentonville, North Carolina, on March 19, 1865.
