William T. Woodard, Jr born on October 1, 1913 in Selma, NC (Johnston County). UNC Chapel Hill graduate class of 1934. Taught school in Oriental in Pamlico County. Headed the Welfare Department in Johnston County. Named Chief Federal Probation Officer of Eastern District Federal Court in North Carolina; named by President Lyndon B. Johnson as a member of the U.S. Board of Paroles in 1966 with reappointment to that Board by President Richard M. Nixon. Long-time leader of Hayes Barton United Methodist Church in Raleigh.
