The Life of Connie M. Pilgert

Connie M. Pilgert, 66, of Kutztown, died suddenly on Thursday, June 14, 2018 in Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township. Born in Allentown, Connie was a daughter of the late Russel and Norma M. (Tobias) Pilgert. She was a 1969 graduate of Brandywine Heights High School, Topton. Connie worked as a Presser and Clerk at Kelchner Cleaners, Kutztown for 20 years. She had also worked as a Cashier at the former Max's Thriftway, Kutztown for many years. Connie enjoyed talking with the customers at both Kelchner's and Max's, learning about them and their families over the years.

Her hobbies included gardening, reading, cooking, going out to eat, and spending time with her friends. She also liked listening to piano music, especially the sounds of Yanni, and partaking in house tours in the area. Connie had a profound knowledge of pottery and had quite a collection of her own. She could often be found walking the sidewalks of Kutztown and talking with the many people she knew along the way, or across the street at Mr. Food. Connie's kind and gentle nature will continue to live on, not only in the hearts of the ones who knew her, but also through her choice to be an organ donor.

Connie is survived by her daughter, Marci B. Grossman, and her spouse, Judith A. Domanico, Ambler, PA, and their children, Christine E. Clement and Stephen J. Clement; her two aunts, Ruby Koch, Macungie, and Lucy Braun, and husband Dick, of Allen Park, Michigan, and several cousins. She is also is survived by her four-legged companion, Cora Beth, who she adored, grand-dogs, Shelby and Sophia, and special friends and neighbors, Brian and Nancy Koller, Catherine Freeby, and all of her many friends.

A memorial service to celebrate Connie's life will be held on Thursday, June 21, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. in Ludwick Funeral Homes, Inc., 333 Greenwich Street, Kutztown, with Rev. Dr. Susan C. Bertolette officiating. Relatives and friends are invited to a visitation on Thursday afternoon from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. in the funeral home. Burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, Connie's wishes were for all who knew her to put a fresh arrangement of flowers in your home in her memory.

Ludwick Funeral Homes, Inc., Kutztown is in charge of arrangements. Memories and condolences may be shared at www.Ludwickfh.com.

Always smiling

I knew Connie as the friendly face of Kelchner’s when I would drop off my dry cleaning. She always had a smile on her face. She will be missed.

Butterfly

With Deepest Sympathy to the Family. Anyone who knew Connie could feel her warmth, kindness, and gentleness. Truly a wonderful soul, a giving nature, a kind and gentle lady. I  don't think there was a day when I would see her we didn't share a laugh. I will miss sharing those times. I think I saw you today.... a white butterfly and as I called out your name for a brief moment you fluttered around me then you were gone. A peaceful sense came over me, and I knew you are with the Lord. See you on the other side my friend.

Gracious Lady

Whenever our paths crossed, Connie always greeted me with a smile and a kind word.  She was the personification of grace, a kind and gentle person.  I came to know Connie through the Kutztown Public Library.  She will be missed.

A Special Friend

Connie and I were playmates as children as we lived near each other in Mertztown. Then we were classmates for 12 years. My memories of Connie are all of her smiles and kindness. Life took us on different roads after graduation, but we met again thru Kelchners. I looked forward to our chats. She was always interested in what was happening in my family. She shared about her Mom and she loved talking about her daughter. She was a proud Mom! I will miss her so much. She always made you feel that you were special to her. She was a gift to us all.

Sidewalk Talks

Connie always stopped to chat if I was out in the yard (I live down the street from Kelchners).  We had great conversations over the years and she always managed to put a smile on my face.  She was never in a rush on her way home from Kelchners and made time for everyone she encountered on her way home.

I was working in my front yard this weekend and really felt the void of not seeing her with infectious smile and amazing positive attitude.

God certainly has an amazing new angel to help welcome people into heaven!

Connie's family and friends are all in my thoughts and prayers!

Keith

Sweet childhood

I so looked forward to see Connie when our family visited Mertztown. I can remember watching her as she talked with the "grown-ups" around my grandmother's table or on the large porch. She was so beautiful and poised. She was so kind and graceful. I can remember thinking "I want to be like her". It's hard to think that she isn't with us on this earth. But, I know that she is resting in paradise with our Lord. She will be in my heart and memories.

Loved life

My family would always visit my grandparents in Mertztown , PA every summer growing up . When I would see my cousin Connie my face would light up when she came to greet me and ask me how I was doing . She always cared about you and made you feel special . Her smile was captivating as was her grace. I will forever have a smile in my heart when I think of her . God Bless you Connie .  You will be missed .

With Love to Connie

I am so saddened by the passing of Connie.  She was truly one of the most beautiful people I knew. She was kind and always gracious. I will miss our weekly chats very much. My heart is sad. But, I know Connie would want all of us to take time to smell the flowers. Connie, you were an angel on earth and you are now an angel in heaven.
