The Life of Phyllis Rose Kraft

Mrs. Phyllis Rose (Kuronyi) Kraft, 80, of Rockland Township, quietly departed this life on Monday, December 11, 2017 in Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township, PA. Born in Bethlehem on June 2, 1937, Phyllis was a daughter of the late Joseph and Mary Kuronyi. She was the caregiver and provider for her brothers, Walter and Joseph and her sister, Marie. Phyllis was a graduate of Bethlehem Catholic High School and was Lutheran in faith. She united in holy matrimony to Harold R. Kraft, Jr., on April 12, 1954. This unison was blessed with four children. Mr. Kraft predeceased her in January, 1992, and she is joyous to reunite with him in heaven.

Phyllis worked at General Electric, Allentown, before moving on to Jim Rau Dog Shows in Reading, where she became an A.K.C. Superintendent. She was also the owner and operator of Pinecrest Kennels in Mertztown, which many dogs called their second home, as she loved them all. The puppies that were born there, have brought joy to many homes across the world. Mrs. Kraft was an active member of the American Kennel Club. As a result of her generous spirit and welcoming personality, she was loved by many. Her life was as beautiful and joy filled as the many dogs that she loved so well, and her influence will forever remain in the lives of all who knew her.

Her beautiful life will forever be cherished in the lives of her children; Louise (Kraft) McCarty, and her husband, Chris, Melbourne, FL, Kathy Kraft, and her companion, Mike Termini, Indialantic, FL, Rebecca Kraft, Mertztown, and John Kraft, and his companion, Cathy Marx, of Mertztown; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; brothers, Walter Kuronyi, Breinigsville, Joseph Kuronyi, and his wife, Carol, of Somerset, NJ; and a sister, Marie Kuronyi, who resided with Phyllis; and a host of devoted nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Mom's Dear Friend

From the time that you gave us Jug Head to my mother's death, we have dear memories of you, Phyllis. You were one of my mother's best friends and she cherished her time with you and all of the good people at Jim Rau's business. We hope that the two of you are together on the other side, with they guys and all of our beloved four legged friends. God Bless You, Skip Schauer

Hot Air Balloon Ride

I have so many memories of my Momma Phyllis. She was a wonderful second mom to me and an amazing grammy to my daughter. My favorite memory was when I surprised her and my daughter, Charlie with a hot air balloon ride. It fell on a day when the company was sponsoring Wicked (the play). They had media coverage! Phyllis could not climb in the basket and she told the guy, "if I have to ride on the outside, this balloon is not leaving without me!!" With that the guy scooped her up in his arms and put her in the basket! When the ride was over and they scooped her up out of the basket, she said "did you just get a grammy butt feel??" LOL!!! It was something on her bucket list and I am grateful that I was able to make one of her dreams come true. Have fun reuniting with your family and friends. You can now take care of Ross and his daughter Shaila. Till we meet again, I love you and will never be the same without you!

The first day I met you ,Phyllis!

Larry and I were coming to meet Hannah and you.We just lost our Dixie and wanted another shepherd.Larry was talking to Tim Gerloff at work and he told Larry he knew where puppies were being born in two weeks.Larry came home and told me and of course I jumped on that fast and we were on our way to a beautiful friendship that I will treasure forever. I joked often with you about what Larry said to you when we were talking already for an hour in the office area and I met Hannah and your boy Zeus.He said straight to you then and there your never going to get rid of her now.Because we talked and talked and you didn't get rid of me,did you?.What a blessing you gave me my Dusty Rose Lee and so many friends and memories. You truly were a beautiful friend to so many. Love you our sweet angel!

Forever Phyllis

Four years ago I met Phyllis for the first time as I was choosing a puppy, She had a smile as wide as the ocean and always was willing to speak with me via phone while I updated her on Augie (aka St. Augustine of Pinecrest Kennels). Calendars, cards, pictures galore flooded her home with Augie. She really saw him growing. The first BARK-day party I had for Augie at Wagsworth Manor Pet Resort in Malvern, PA Phyllis blessed us with her presence. What a reunion between Augie and Grandma Phyllis (as she was referred to). It was as tho he never left Mertztown. I will miss Phyllis deeply and her friendly smile (even over the phone) and our lengthy conversations. To her family, I give my heartfelt condolences and forever keep her memory in your hearts.

Dog Shows and Classes

The dog show world lost a great ambassador with the passing of this wonderful woman. We shared many laughs over the years at so many dog shows! And as your students, we learned a great deal about dogs, conformation showing and obedience training. Phyllis, you will be sorely missed by many. We were honored to be a part of your life.
