The Life of Elda M VanValkenburg

Elda M. (Stump) VanValkenburg, 92, of Mertztown, died on Monday, June 12, 2017 in Lehigh Valley Hospital Inpatient Hospice Unit, Allentown, where she was a patient for one day. She was the widow of Clifford E. VanValkenburg, who died October 22, 1994.

Born in Maxatawny Township, Elda was a daughter of the late Milton E. and Minnie K. (Kline) Stump. She was Lutheran. Elda was a homemaker and member of Ray A. Master Post 217 American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, Topton, and a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8282, Breinigsville.

Elda is survived by Daughters, Linda K. (Galbavy) Bowers, companion of Wayne H. Leinbach, Mertztown; Joan M. (Galbavy) wife of Nabil Abraham, Tustin, CA and Mary A. Galbavy, Fountain Hill, Lehigh County; Sons, Eugene P. Stump, Macungie; Larry R. Ruppert, Chandler, AZ and Robert E. VanValkenburg, Mertztown. Other survivors include a Sister, Catherine A. (Stump) widow of Robert D. Frankenfield, Emmaus; 13 Grandchildren; 15 Great Grandchildren; and 2 Great-Great Grandchildren.  In addition to her Husband and Parents, Elda was predeceased by Sons, Donald Galbavy in 1978; Ronald Galbavy in 1988 and Joseph L. Galbavy in 2006.

Funeral services for Elda will be held on Friday, June 16, 2017 at 10:30 AM in Ludwick Funeral Homes, Inc., 25 East Weis Street, Topton, with Reverend Arthur L. Hahn, officiating. Burial will follow in Berks County Memorial Gardens, Maidencreek Township. Relatives and friends may call on Friday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 AM in the funeral home.
