The Life of Darrell Keith Meck

Darrell Keith Meck, 64, of Stockholm, Saskatchewan, Canada, passed away on May 8, 2017 in Pascal Care Center, Regina, Saskatchewan, Can. He was the widower of Diane (Persson) Meck.

Born in Reading, PA, Darrell was the eldest of six boys to Franklin R. and Pearl P. (Kauffman) Meck of Longswamp Township, PA. He was often the instigator of the Meck family fun and games, of which the littlest brothers were usually on the losing end. Growing up, Darrell was heavily involved with the Boy Scouts of America, which paved the way for his first career as a Staff Sergeant in the United States Air Force, following his graduation from Brandywine Heights High School, Topton, in 1971. It was while he was stationed at the radar site in Opheim, Montana that he met Diane. They married and moved to Germany, where they had their two children, Erik and Lisa. He left the military after nine years of service and moved to Diane’s hometown of Stockholm, becoming a Canadian citizen shortly thereafter. He was a member of New Stockholm Lutheran Church. Over the years, Darrell worked as a plumbing and heating tradesman, an addictions counselor, and a federal procurement clerk. He retired from Canada Revenue Agency in 2008 and perused odd jobs to keep himself busy and active. He loved going for walks and bike rides and just working in the yard. He listened to a variety of music and enjoyed attending dances with live bands. Darrell was a friendly guy who loved to chat with everyone and did what he could to help out his neighbors, family and friends. He will be missed by many in the community and remembered for his generous heart and sense of humor.

Darrell lives on in the memories of his Parents; Children, Erik Meck of Stockholm, Can., and Lisa (Meck), wife of Darrin Gosse of Ottawa, Can.; Grandson, Nathan Gosse; Brothers, Bruce F., husband of Jane (Biltcliff) Meck, Alburtis, Leslie A., widower of Debra (Heagy) Meck, Fleetwood, Benjamin E., husband of Cindy (Rauenzahn) Meck, Alburtis, Joseph L., husband of Denise (Emore) Meck, Fleetwood, and James M.
