The Life of Ralph S Adam

Ralph S. “Pete” Adam, 97, of Kutztown, died on Wednesday, September 28, 2016 in The Lutheran Home at Topton, where he was a resident for four years. He was the widower of Emma Louise (Luckenbill) Adam, who died on November 29, 1986.

Born in Kutztown, Pete was the son of the late Seneca W. and Emma M. (Miller) Adam. He was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Kutztown, where he served on the church council for several terms, and other numerous committees. Pete was a 1936 graduate of Kutztown Area High School, and was a United States Army veteran, serving in the European Theatre of World War II, where he was a Prisoner of War. He was employed by Kutztown Publishing Company, Kutztown, for 51 years, retiring in 1987 as Production Manager. Pete was a member of Huguenot Lodge No. 377, F.& A.M., Kutztown, was a former President of Hope Cemetery Association, Kutztown, for many years, and was involved with many other local organizations throughout the years.

Pete is survived by 2 Sons, David R. Adam, Tucson, AZ, and John P., husband of Gale L. (Scheidt) Adam, Kutztown; 4 Grandchildren, Kurt D. Adam, Jeanette L. (Adam) Ebling, Susan M. Adam, and John David Adam, 4 Great-Grandchildren, Taylor E. Adam, Jared S. Adam, Joshua D. Sheetz and Justin D. Sheetz; and 2 Great-Great Grandchildren, Adalynn G. Sheetz and Leo D. Sheetz.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, October 7, 2016 at 1:00 PM in Trinity Lutheran Church, 357 West Main Street, Kutztown, with Reverend Keith K. Rohrbach officiating. Relatives and friends may call on Friday from 12:00 noon to 1:00 PM in the church. Entombment, with military honors, will be private in Hope Cemetery Mausoleum, Kutztown.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made in Pete's memory to Trinity Lutheran Church Memorial Fund, 357 West Main Street, Kutztown, PA  19530, or Kutztown Area Historical Society, P.O. Box 307, Kutztown, PA  19530. Arrangements are by the Ludwick Funeral Home, Kutztown, PA.
